Consolidated B-24A Liberators were first delivered to the USAAF-United States Army Air Forces in 1941. In fact, the only B-24 stationed at Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor was destroyed.
The B-24 Liberator Design In 1938, the United States Army Air Corps, put out a request to Consolidated Aircraft Company, to produce the new B-17 bomber under license. Executives of Consolidated decided instead, to submit a competing design of their own. Their initial design featured the brand new “Davis Wing,” in conjunction with the twin-tail design of their Model 31 Flying Boat.
Unlike it's fighting partner, the Hawker Hurricane, the Supermarine Spitfire was an entirely new concept in aeroplane design. The lines of the aircraft, gave it a sleek and polished look, compared to the Hurricanes more simplistic appearance.
