START HERE WITH A MESSAGE FROM SGT. MAC

My blog started out as a way to research and explore my families military history. It was also a way for me to write about our history and preserve it for my kids and grand-kids.

The site, has since expanded from a family history search into a quest for military history. To that end, this blog features both…some of the families military history, as well as general military history.

Where relevant, I give some personal insight, whether it be myself, or a family member into some particular subject. Other times, I write about a subject that has always fascinated me, or one that I came upon, which peaks my interest.

Hopefully all or some of these stories will interest you, as much as they do me. I love interaction with other folks, so if you have an opinion or want to discuss a subject, please feel free to leave a comment!

Navigation Tabs

Clicking on any of the main tabs in the horizontal navigation menu, such as Memories-Research or Wars, will guide you to a page, that will give a brief description of sub-menu items under each tab. Navigation is laid out as follows:

Home Tab: This is the page you are currently on, which gives a brief layout and description of the blog.

Memories-Research Tab: Gives a brief overview of the following sub-menus, including the recently moved Research tab.

Seeds of History: Memories of a child, that fed my interest in the military.
Turbulent Sixties: Description of major world events that affected our lives from about 1960-1966.
Recent Memories: Current memories of military related events.

Research: Gives a general overview of how important it is to use research, even if you have a wealth of information available.

Preservation: Several tales of woe and advice on preservation of memories.
How-To: How to research Veteran’s Records and other information

WARS: (Due to site expansion, moved WWI and WWII under the WARS heading)

World War One Tab: Describes how I got interested in World War One, and contains general history on the war.

Granddad’s War: World War One and a grandfather I never knew.
History-1: General World War One History and information.

World War Two Tab: Gives a description of how I got interested in World War Two History. Contains the following sub-menus:

Aircraft: World War Two aircraft that interest me.
